Born in October 1948 in Riga, the capital of Latvia, one of the Baltic countries, Eugenia graduated from high school in 1966. With a lifelong passion for literature, languages, and history, she pursued studies at the philology and history department of Latvian State University in 1967, earning her MS in philology and ME in education in 1973. After graduation, Eugenia embarked on a fulfilling career as a high school Literature and Language teacher and University field practice instructor until her emigration to the USA in 1989. Settling in Brooklyn, NY, with her family on April 6, 1990, she sought new opportunities to apply her skills and passion for helping others. On April 1, 1991, Eugenia secured an administrative assistant position at one of the mental health clinics at The Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services, marking her introduction to a field previously unavailable in the Soviet Union. This role resonated with her interest in human psychology and her desire to be of service to others, setting the stage for what would become a lifelong calling. While working full-time at The Jewish Board, Eugenia pursued further education, obtaining an MSW from NYU School of Social Work in May 1995. Over the years, she remained dedicated to The Jewish Board, progressing from a line therapist to a clinical supervisor—a position she held for 23 years. In addition to her full-time role, Eugenia established a private practice in 2007, further expanding her impact and reach within the mental health community. After a fulfilling career spanning decades, she retired from The Jewish Board on September 1, 2023, but continues to devote her time and expertise to serving clients in her private practice. Eugenia’s journey has been guided by a steadfast commitment to learning, growth, and making a difference in the lives of others. As she continues her work in private practice, she is grateful for the opportunity to continue pursuing her passion for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and achieve greater well-being.
